  1. A week ago I was on my way to a birthday dinner (for a friend whose birthday is the same day as mine!) and stopped to get cash at a 7-11. A woman approached me to ask for money. “Let me get my money first,” I said, so she followed me over to the ATM — and then I saw that she only had one eye. “If I get together a few bucks I can stay somewhere instead of sleeping in the park,” she said. “I’ve been raped there before. I don’t want to get raped again or killed.” Dang, she got me right in the feels with that one, like a Google targeted ad. I thanked my own good fortune and two eyeballs and gave her a fiver, and I don’t care what she did with the money.
